History teaches us to understand past events and consider how these events continue to impact the world today. 

Level 1 History is focused on the History curriculum's significant learning of big ideas and concepts. These will be considered through a number of significant events both in New Zealand and globally, considering different perspectives and how they have shaped lives in the 20th and 21st century in New Zealand. Students will form judgements based on evidence and analyse key resources.


Subject Overview

Term 1
What does it mean to be a historian? How do you interpret different resources? Question validity and usefulness?

Term 2
How to investigate history that is significant to New Zealand and explore the significant effects on society.

Term 3
Does everyone view history in the same way? How to interpret and understand why there are different perspectives when discussing the same history.

Term 4
Consolidate concepts.

Assessment Information

Assessment will consist of internal assessment as well an an external examination.

Internal assessment will occur periodically through the year with the external examination held in Term 4.
