Subject Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms T. Singer.
This course provides an introduction to the basic techniques and elements of Drama.
Students have the opportunity to develop skills and confidence in social speaking, acquire or build acting techniques, and explore play making at an introductory level. (single term)
*Depending on the length of the course students may also participate in making a silent movie and learning about the silent movie era. (two terms)
Subject Overview
Term 1
Students will explore techniques for dealing with nerves, engaging an audience and speaking effectively in various social settings. They will develop their basic understanding of dramatic techniques and elements using mime as their primary theatre form.
Students will also experiment with improvisation skills in a range of situations.
Term 2
In the case of a second term being offered, students will study silent movies from the early 1900's and will develop and perform in their own short film.
