Level 2 Mathematics
A course that provides students with a range of topics that primarily deal with problem-solving using numeric and algebraic skills. This course is recommended for students that wish to take a level 2 course with a science focus (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology)
A good pass rate in Level 1 Mathematics is needed, approval from the HoD mathematics will be required in some cases
Subject Overview
Term 1
Coordinate Geometry - Use coordinate geometry techniques to solve a problem.
Non-Linear Graphs - Form expressions and draw non-linear graphs to model and interpret a situation.
Term 2
Trigonometry - Use a range of non-right angle trigonometry rules to solve a problem.
Algebraic Methods - Use a wide range of Algebraic techniques to solve problems.
Term 3
Simultaneous equations - Form solve and interpret the intersection points of a linear graph and a non-linear graph in a practical situation.
Calculus Methods - use differentiation and Integration to solve a wide variety of problems.
Term 4
Exam revision, Algebra and Calculus. Preparation for the NCEA externals examinations.
